GIRL
Brush your teeth and make your bed;
Open the curtains wide;
Let the sunshine warm your skin,
Present yourself with pride.
.
Study hard and study well,
You never know what you might need;
Listen to teachers; even though
Some seem to be made of steel?
.
Love, and smile at, everyone;
And make your presence glow;
To all around who witness it,
You must let your nature show.
Well done Tanja
I like your poem, it’s rhythmical and includes the rules we were asked to focus on. And sounds better than stream-of-consciousness-like prose
Each culture seems to teach so many rules…many I think are constraints on being who you want to be or should be…but that is just a random thought of mine. I found the your poem thought provoking.
i call poems like these feel good poems.
great job
The last part of your poem reminds me of M. Shelley words …” Live, and be happy and make others so”. Very optimistic , like yourself.
