A Conversational Poem Between The Forth & Clyde

By: Caroline Fraser, Jamie Nelson & Claudia Menting

FORTH: I am the Blood that flows though the cultural veins of my city.

CLYDE: We have seen a million years, we have witnessed the highs and lows and still we stand united.

FORTH: I am the Fingers that have built, written and sculpted. My city is Scotland.

CLYDE: Have you forgotten and abandoned your Niddries, Muirhouses, Piltons and Saughtons? We do not hide or turn our tides.

FORTH: I am the Brain that mends, reconstructs my dysfunctional anomalies. I am not the disease that continually spreads infection.

CLYDE: We are the work force that binds the Seas; we have the passion that makes a people. A people whose soul resounds in the hollowness of your detached heart.

FORTH: My River will continually flow, as will yours, your hatred will eventually sink as you realize that my city is forever linked to yours.

CLYDE: Our Rivers may never meet but there’s hope for our cities whose glue is the minds souls and hearts of the Scottish people.

Beautifully written and a pleasure to leave the city for an hour and bathe in the conversation of these often neglected Scottish rivers.
